Mary Jean King

Ms. King is a Consulting Actuary for By the Numbers Actuarial Consulting, Inc. (BYNAC). Ms. King is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (FCA), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

Ms. King brings over twenty years of actuarial experience to BYNAC. Her extensive background in commercial lines pricing and reserving is an asset to the firm.

Ms. King graduated from Lafayette College in May, 1982 with an A.B. in Mathematics. In June of 1982, Ms King started her career at Cigna Corporation in the Special Risk Unit doing large account pricing. She was responsible for the actuarial work provided to three branch offices. She joined General Accident Insurance in May, 1987. At General Accident, she began work in the Private Passenger Auto ratemaking area. Eventually, she became responsible for Commercial Lines pricing including Workers Compensation, Commercial Package, Commercial Auto, and General Liability.

After a break from work to raise her family, she rejoined General Accident in September 1998, just after their merger with Commercial Union. Working part time, Ms. King helped to launch a new large account pricing unit. Later she joined the reserve area and gained experience preparing quarterly reserve reviews.

In September 2002, Ms. King took the opportunity to try something new, becoming a Pre-Calculus teacher at Bishop Eustace Preparatory School for the 2002-2003 school year. She returned to actuarial work at OneBeacon in the fall of 2003 as a part time consultant and worked on special projects for the claims department over the next three years.

Ms. King joined By the Numbers Actuarial Consulting, Inc. in June, 2006 as a Consulting Actuary. She enjoys the challenges of the consulting field and the opportunity to work closely with clients in responding to their individual situation.
